Spreadsheet Goodness and a Galaxy Far Far Away

  • “What did I achieve today?”
    • Training on the new job is going well. I’ve been doing similar stuff to what I did when I was a temp, pre lockdown, just to get my head back in the game. But, today I did some new stuff.

I spent a good couple of hours analysing a spreadsheet , cross referencing the info with the parts database looking for details that had been missed when the sheet imported the base information and was able to identify about half a dozen missed lines which my new boss was pleased about. I also learnt how to add some fixed price products to a contract list.

This basically means I’m beginning to learn the tasks that I was employed to do and so should start to move away from the order processing side.
  • “What lessons did I learn?”
    • Playing with the spreadsheets, I have had to look up some excel formulas and decipher existing formulas to figure out what they are doing. I’m not overly experienced with Excel in terms of the more complicated stuff so this is proving to be genuinely quite fun and it’s nice to put my brain to use after 12 months of being stuck at home.
  • “What am I thankful for right now?”
    • I’m thankful for the chance to learn new things and push myself to take on new challenges.
  • “How am I feeling right now?”
    • Today was a good day. I feel I have been useful at work and the evening was spent roleplaying in a galaxy far far away which is something we haven’t done in a good 6 weeks or so.
  • “What did I read today?”
    • I actually made time to read my film making book during my lunch break today. Only a few pages but it’s more than I have done the last few days.
  • “What are 3 amazing things that happened today?”
    • My performance at work was good
    • We RPG’d with Matt & Joe
    • We made a mountain of Spagbol.
  • “How could I have made today better?”
    • It could have been a touch warmer outside at lunchtime. Seriously April…get a grip!
